Our classes at Drayton House begin with our 6 month olds who join our Day Nursery, and finish with Forms 3 and 4 for our 4 - 5 year olds. Each class focuses on a particular age and stage, while also taking into account the different needs of individual children in the class.
Our curriculum is based upon the fundamental learning requirements outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage goals provided by OFSTED, and includes the seven key learning areas of:
Depending on what age children are when they join us, our classes at Drayton House progress as follows:
For our children aged under 2 years, our staff ratios are a maximum of 1:3. In our Day Nursery and Transition for Toddlers room, the maximum number of children in each room is 6 with 2 members of staff in each, and the day is from 8am - 6pm.
For our little ones aged between 2 and 3, our staff to children ratio is 1:4. In the Kindergarten we have a mix of a few under 2s, with the majority of the children being over 2, so we ensure that we are in ratio at all times. The Kindergarten has a maximum of 16 children at any given time, and the day is from 8am - 6pm.
For children aged 3 years+, we work on a staff to children ratio of 1:10 in our classes at Drayton House, with an average class size of between 8 - 10 children. Our class teachers are either fully qualified Teachers, Early Years Professionals, or equivalent qualifications such as NNEB. We are lucky enough to also have Classroom Assistants who support the Class Teacher in their daily role. When children become 3 years of age, parents can choose to finish the day at either 3pm or 6pm.
